Makerere University, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing the Africa Climate Collaborative. As part of this initiative, Makerere University is implementing an inclusive Youth Skilling Program aimed at empowering young people to unlock business opportunities.

The Africa Climate Collaborative at Makerere University is pleased to announce youth skilling opportunities for fifty [50] participants (20% refugees, 10% persons with disabilities and 70% others). 70% of the participants will be female. This opportunity is open to youth residing in either Lwengo Sub- County in Lwengo District, Ddwaniro Sub-County in Rakai District, Zone 5 of the Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, or Ariwa Sub- County in Yumbe District.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must;

1. Be a resident of either Lwengo Sub- County in Lwengo district, Ddwaniro Sub- County in Rakia district, Zone 5 of the Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, or Ariwa Sub- County in Yumbe District.

2. Have completed at least Senior Four (O-level) or its equivalent but without enrolment or completed University Education.

3. Be aged between 18 and 35 years by the application deadline.

4. Not be currently in any form of employment or training.

Note:

  1. An applicant must be willing to reside at the Makerere University Research Institute, Kabanyolo (MUARIK), Wakiso district for the 10 weeks of skilling.
  2. An applicant must be interested in operating a poultry business (Feed production, hatchery management, chicken rearing, value addition, and waste management).
  3. Young women, young mothers, youth with disabilities and refugees are encouraged to apply.
